Mission Statement

To provide a multidisciplinary approach to the management of obese or severely obese patients. As a member of a progressive health care system, we aim to deliver high quality services to all patients, with excellence, compassion and competence.

The philosophy of the (AIWC) is simple: To use the accumulated expertise built up from a decade of research, constant quality improvements, multi-centre experience and over 7,000 procedures to deliver services of the highest possible standard so we can help people lose weight, keep the weight off, get healthier and live more fulfilling lives.

Circle of Care Clinics

This name reflects the multi-disciplinary approach to the management of obese and very obese patients. Our program incorporates a pre-operative assessment, the surgical procedure and post-operative care comprising dietary planning and advice, psychological support, a fitness and exercise program and regular support group activities.

The Australian Institute of Weight Control currently has eight Circle of Care clinics located in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

When you deal with a “Circle of Care” clinic, you can rest easy knowing that you are in experienced hands delivering a proven program.

The Circle of Care program has developed significant experience successfully treating a wide range of obesity related problems such as diabetes, hypertension, infertility and sleep disturbances/disorders. We are able to work with your GP to provide better outcomes.

Experience

The AIWC combines four of Australia’s most experienced obesity clinics (based in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and the Gold Coast) into a network of high quality, purpose built centres.

The clinics that comprise the AIWC have conducted over 7,000 gastric band and other obesity related procedures over 10 years and have been involved in numerous research and development programs. We are incorporating each clinic’s ‘best practices’ to provide our patients with world class levels of safety, support and encouragement.

As the Circle of Care program has helped so many people from so many backgrounds, we are able to provide practical guidance in many areas – obesity and diabetes, obesity and fertility, obesity and sleep problems as well as a host of other real life solutions.

We understand the problem of obesity. It is a complex problem and there are no simple answers. That is why we have a holistic approach at our centres.

We think it’s important for any person planning the procedure to be able to talk to somebody that has ‘already done it’ and we can put you in touch with other patients who can share their experience with you. Each clinic regularly organizes seminars and events to assist on all topics – recipes, exercise programs, techniques to cope with binge eating. Everybody is welcome and you can also bring a friend.

AIWC has committed significant resources to establish dedicated, purpose built Circle of Care clinics. We engage allied health professionals in nutrition, psychology, exercise and general health, all of whom have an interest and expertise in treating obesity. We have used the experience of treating many thousands of patients to develop (and continue to refine) our multi-disciplinary programs.

The most important information which comes from our research studies shows that:

Weight loss following gastric banding leads to resolution and improvement of most of the diseases caused by obesity.
